Tonight is the night. Baseball is back for the Oregon Ducks.

Fresh off an NCAA Regional appearance in 2021, the Ducks start the quest to make it two in a row in 2022. Oregon, led by head coach Mark Wasikowski, will send the University of British Columbia transfer Adam Maier to the mound to get the Ducks off to a hot start.

Oregon is full of familiar and new faces but is tasked to replace some heavily important talent from a season ago. Oregon’s three best hitters and four best pitchers left the program after 2021, either to the MLB Draft, graduation, or transfers.

The Ducks will rely heavily upon underclassmen, including game three starter Isaac Ayon, to start producing at the Pac-12 level. They have a formidable three-headed monster in their lineup with SS Josh Kasevich and outfielders Tanner Smith and Anthony Hall. That trio will look to improve upon their strong 2021 season and step into the alpha-dog roles on offense.

Kolby Somers solidifies pitching in the bullpen, but all four of their weekend starters will be relatively new to the role. Andrew Mosiello and Ayon started a combined three games last year, while Maier and freshman Tommy Brandenburg (game four starter) will both toss their first innings in a Duck uniform this weekend.

USD provides a formidable opponent, led by starting pitcher Conner Thurman. The Toreros will also have the home-field advantage for this four-game series.

The first pitch is scheduled for 6 PM tonight and can be watched here
