After visiting Oregon a fast-rising athlete out of Texas has high interest in the Ducks
The Oregon Ducks got a chance to host a fast-rising defensive lineman out of the state of Texas for an unofficial visit recently. Oregon made a strong impression on him and is in a good place early on in his recruitment.
“What stood out to me most was how genuine and passionate the entire staff was,” said Jackson Ford, a defensive lineman out of Melissa, Texas. “They took the time to emphasize how important it was to build relationships and made it a point to get to know me for who I am outside of football.”
Ford spent most of his time in Eugene around Oregon’s Chief of Staff Marshall Malchow, Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein, offensive analyst Steve Ha’unga, and Oregon’s recruiting department members. Oregon tight end coach Drew Mehringer also spent a good chunk of time recruiting Ford, who is being viewed as an athlete by Oregon. Tight end and defensive line are on the table for him at the next level.
“My parents got the opportunity to tag along with me and I enjoyed their company, and they definitely enjoyed their time at Oregon as well,” said Ford.
Ford holds offers from programs like Arizona State, Cal, San Diego State, Texas Tech, and also Cotton Bowl champion Tulane. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound prospect is still waiting to hear about an offer from Oregon, but the Ducks have made it very clear they like Ford’s potential.
“My interest in the Ducks is very high,” said Ford. “They have an amazing program, culture, and coaching staff. The facilities are crazy nice and all, but the culture Coach Lanning has built in the past year is something special.
“Overall, I’d just say that Oregon is on the come up for something big in their future, and I can’t wait to grow a relationship with their staff.”
Ford intends to visit Houston, Boise State, Florida State, and a few other programs in the near future. A spring visit to Oregon is also in the planning stages.
